In the front of our condos is a patch of woods with a trail down to the water - it is land that is part of our neighborhood. A couple of days ago, it was noticed that someone had pitched a tent and was obviously living out of it. Several neighbors noticed it, some have noticed a bike near it and some have peeked inside and seen a blanket and some shampoo/conditioner. We called the police to report it, but they were pretty crappy about it, asking Dena and I what we wanted them to do about it… and what exactly we were concerned about. Oh… I don’t know, maybe the that some homeless person or runaway is living there. The fact that it is private property… or the fact that I live alone with my kids right across the street from it. You know… just a few things. The police officer said that he can’t do anything about it because it was on private property, and that we could call them back IF we actually saw the person there OR we could just go take the tent down ourselves. Like we want to even get close to that thing.
Dena wrote an email to the Property Manager for our Condo Association, explaining the situation. His response? That he would “write a letter” and leave it at the tent asking the person to leave. Really? A letter? I am sure that letter scared the shit out of whoever is living in the tent. Or maybe not, since the tent is STILL there. Apparently, Dena and I are going to have to just take the damn tent down ourselves. I hope whoever is living there, does not see us taking their tent down and decide to seek revenge and kill us. If he does kill us, maybe the Property Manager can write him another letter and let him know that murder is against the law.
