Saturday’s Sundries-09/16/06

A collection of thoughts and other stuff not worthy of a full post.

Our new pooch Knox is proving to be just like the rest of the males in this family - typical stubborn males!  He is a rough little guy that keeps the kids running from couch to couch.  Housebreaking him is going to be the death of me!

It is 7:00pm and for some reason I feel like it is 12:00 midnight - I am so damn tired today and I have no clue why.

Last night, Todd and I went and saw Little Miss Sunshine - really, really, really good!!!  Go see it!!!

The Ford Motor Company is closing some of their plants down, one of which happens to be here, which is pretty sad.  Todd and I were talking about it today.  Many of these people were getting paid REALLY good salaries for their positions.  Their position with Ford that paid $60,000.00, will only earn them around $20,000.00 outside of Ford and these people have built their lives around that salary.  It really is sad.

The end of the line for Ford Motor Co.‘s F-150 truck plant will come sooner than originally planned as the company speeds up its North American restructuring.  In January, Ford will permanently drop one of two shifts at the 2,355-worker factory and stop building F-150s in Norfolk later in 2007 - a year earlier than stated five months ago.

Is anyone else excited for the season of Grey’s Anatomy to kick off next week?  I am also excited for 30 Rock…I have no life!

Oh, and I thought I would just mention that I just read the bestest, most sweetest blog post EVAH!  Seriously it was good!

Taking You Back, Way Back!

Does anyone remember the “Illustrated Wildlife Treasury” from the late 70’s, early 80’s?  Every month you would get a pack of animal fact cards in the mail and you got this nifty green, plastic carrying case that had alphabetical dividers in it so that you could organize your cards as they came in.  I had this when I was younger and I LOVED IT!!!  I have been on the hunt for it for my kids, cause they do not make anything like this now - god forbid our kids have something useful that they could learn from.

I had found a perfect set on Ebay, but like an idiot I missed the bid.  There have been a couple listed since, but they were not very good sets.  They only had like 200 cards out of over a possible 500.  I did find a great site where someone does remember the set, which is where I got the above picture.  He takes a different card and showcases it along with a nice little picture of his own to compliment the card…pretty funny.

On another note, I thought I would share this video that cracked me up.  I shared it on MySpace, but lots of you do not have MySpace sites, so I thought I would share it here too - your welcome!

CHAD VADER: Day Shift Manager
Life is hard for Chad Vader, the younger, less charismatic brother
of Darth Vader, who is the day shift manager of a grocery store.

Now wasn’t that funny?  There are other episodes (2 through 4) that can be found on YouTube.  Enjoy!

Tap Tap Tap, Is This Thing On?

Well summer is over and it is time to knock the dust off this blog and get back to posting on a more regular basis.  I also really need to get around to some other blogs and play some MAJOR catch up!  It has been a really busy summer, and I have loads of pictures on my camera that I need to download and post.  Hopefully I will have a couple minutes tomorrow to get that done.

Our End of the Summer “Best Party EVAH” was a lot of fun.  We made like 300 Jell-O shooters, which were all gone by about 11:00.  We also made two big 5 gallon coolers of liquor-laced punch.  Nadine, Dena and I were so over preparing, that we never ate and got right to the drinking.  I was really starting to get drunk, when Dena’s husband came over to me and said “Dena’s DONE!” - and man was she!!!  Everyone had a really good time.

Since I got rid of my sidebar and everything is in the footer, I added a link to a “Currently” page and I put up a new album for your listening pleasure…please right click and save.  I’ll try and be really good about posting now that summer is over…promise!

Ten on Tuesday-09/05/06

These are in no order and there are plenty more, these are just the first ten that came to mind…feel free to add to the list in the comments!

01. The Last Unicorn
Unicorns do not regret, for they do not understand human emotion. This is the story of one unicorn’s journey to discover what has happened to the rest of her kind. On the road, she befriends an wizard cursed with ineptitude and a rough scullery maid. To save her from the wrath of a great bull demon, the wizard Schmendrick transforms her into a human girl. A tale of love, greed, adventure. . .and regret.

02. Kidd Video Kids
One of the earliest Saturday morning shows to catch the swelling MTV wave, Kidd Video mixed pop music with comic adventure and live action with animation, concocting a rocking hit for NBC.
The opening credits explained the peculiar predicament of Kidd Video. Heading up a rock and roll band with pals Whiz, Ash and Carla, Kidd (“KV” to his friends) was sucked over to the cartoon “Flipside” by the power-hungry Master Blaster. But the Blaster was no Wicked Witch; he was a businessman. Master Blaster had his eye on Kidd Video’s hitmaking sound, and the crooked man had dispatched his own band, the Copy Cats—composed of real cats Fat Cat, She Cat and Cool Kitty—to steal KV’s groove.

03. The Smurfs
The Smurfs were a large group of smurfy blue creatures living in a smurfy mushroom villiage. Their smurfin enemies were Gargamel and his cat Azrael who seemed to have no goal in life but to capture the Smurfs. They said smurf so many times in each smurfin sentence that you have to wonder what the smurf the writers were thinking.

04. The Fraggles from Fraggle Rock
The Fraggles are fun-loving muppets who live underground and enjoy singing, dancing, and eating Doozer sticks. The main entrance to their home is a hole in the wall of a workshop kept by an inventor named Doc. Doc’s sheepdog, Sprocket, is the only one in our world who knows about Fraggles. Pity he can’t tell his owner! The leader of the Fraggles is Gobo. He yearns to travel the world of the humans like his Uncle Matt. His friends are the lively Red, the artistic Mokey, the ever-apprehensive Wembley, and Boober. Boober really likes washing socks, even though the Fraggles are barefoot everywhere they go!

05. He-Man
Adam is the mild-mannered Prince of Eternia. Unbeknownst to many around him, when he holds aloft his magic sword and speaks the magic words, he and his pet Cringer are transformed into Battlecat and He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe! He leads a fearless group, sworn to protect the realm and secrets of Castle Greyskull. Along with Man-at-Arms, Teela, and the Sorceress, he defends against the evil onslaught of Skeletor and his army.

06. Strawberry Shortcake
The show might have only lasted 6 episodes, but Strawberry Shortcake’s empire continues to this day. Strawberry was originally conceived by American Greetings in 1980 as a greeting card character. Soon the village of Strawberryland grew lots of friends including Raspberry Tart, Apple Dumpling, Blueberry Muffin,Huckleberry Pie, Plum Pudding, and many more friends she gained on her various adventures. But The Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes were always lurking around to try and spoil the fun.

07. Alf
ALF (or Alien Life Form) is a creature from Planet Melmac that crash landed on earth, and is adopted/taken in by an otherwise normal Earth family.

08. The Dark Crystal (Gelflings)
Another planet, another time. 1000 years ago the Dark Crystal was damaged by one of the Urskeks and an age of chaos began. Now the time of the great conjunction of the three suns is near. If the crystal is not healed now the control of the evil Skekses will last forever. Jen the last of the Gelfings nearly exterminated by monsters controlled by the Skekses starts his dangerous journey to find the missing shard of the crystal. Will he be able to heal the crystal and restore order on the planet?

09. Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon (Sho-Nuff)
A young man searches for the “master” to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as the glow. Along the way he must fight an evil martial arts expert and an rescue a beautiful singer from an obsessed music promoter.  “Kiss my converse, Fool.”

10. Rainbow Brite
Rainbow Brite originated as a Hallmark character and soon starred in her own animated TV series in December 1984. The 13-episode series started on another planet, when a girl called Wisp discovers an end to the universe’s dark times through the Rainbow Belt and becomes the keeper of color. Thus her name changes to Rainbow Brite.

Wednesday’s Sundries

There is nothing worse in this world then driving in your car on the interstate when you see a nasty, black, hairy spider crawl out from the ceiling of your car on the inside above your head - which happened to me!  I searched the car and found some baby wipes and went to kill it, but when I pulled the wipes away…NO SPIDER.  DAMMIT!  Now that nasty thing is loose in the car and pissed.  The cars around me are already pissed cause I am swerving like a sailor leaving the bars at the beach at 2am.  Of course it shows up on my leg five minutes later, causing me to further freak out and swerve.  GOD I HATE BUGS!

I am taking Kaiden to her first concert (well first one outside of my belly) tomorrow night.  We are going to see The Wailers and 311 - she really likes The Wailers and lawn tickets were on sale for $10.00, so what the hell, we are going!

My eye is healing.  I got the stitches out, but now I have to wear this tape on my eye for two weeks and I cannot wear makeup - UGGHHH!

I am getting VERY excited for Dena, Nadine and I’s Farewell to Summer Party that we are throwing Labor Day weekend.  I hope lots of people show up and it becomes a yearly tradition!  It truly is going to be the Best Party EVAH!

I went out of town to my buddy Nadine’s parent’s cabin a couple weeks ago and Todd, Nadine and her hubby Kevin played Spades.  Now I have never really played spades, but I learned - I also learned the my husband and Kevin are some shit-talkin mother-f—kers!  It was Nadine and I against them and they talked shit the entire time.  We are now going to try and get together once a month and play, so Nadine and I gave our team a name - “Spade Tight” and had ourselves some T-Shirts made and gave ourselves some ghetto Spades names - I am “Queen Lil Mac” and Nadine is “MC Vanilla Crusha”.  You can see the front here and the back here.  Who’s gonna be talkin shit now?

Here are a couple of news stories that made me chuckle today:

‘Viva La Bam’ uncle held on sex charges
Reality television’s Vincent “Don Vito” Margera, uncle of “Viva La Bam” star Bam Margera, was held without bond Saturday on a charge of sexual assault on a child.  Margera, 50, was arrested Friday night after a skateboarding event at a Lakewood mall. He is accused of two incidents of sexual assault on a child, city spokeswoman Stacie Oulton said. She said the charges involved inappropriate touching.

Cruise No Longer Top Gun at Paramount
The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Paramount Pictures has decided not to continue its partnership with Hollywood’s most powerful celebrity, citing his recent off-camera behavior as its main reason for discontinuing the 14-year relationship
