I have a very good friend that had a very bad week last week - very bad.  I have tried to make it a point to talk to him every day and let him know that I am here for him if he needs anyone, and also, just to make sure that he is coping okay.  He has got a super dooper great sense of humor so I was relieved when he was finally joking with me some on Wednesday.  When I called him on Thursday I got his voice mail, so I left him a message that I was checking in on him and to please call me back.  On Friday I did the same, but still had not heard back from him.  I called him again Friday night and he finally answered the phone, to which he was greeted with me telling him to not ever worry me like that again and to answer his damn phone when I am calling to check up on him!!!

He told me sorry and that a couple of his friends were going up to Ikea near Washington D.C. (three hours from here) and had invited him to go, so that he could get out of the house.  In my head I was thinking that it was a friend of his and that guy’s girlfriend or even his girlfriend, but it was not.  It was just three dudes taking a road trip to Ikea.  I started laughing uncontrollably and could not stop.  He asked me what the hell was so funny and I told him that his “dude trip” to Ikea is what was so damn funny.  What straight guys do that together?  I told him that it would be a cold day in HELL before Todd called up Adam and Big Kev and asked if they were down for a road trip to Ikea.  He and the other guys in the car did not see the problem with it and he told me he hated me and hung up on me.  I made it a point to send him a text message yesterday morning that said “A bunch of the guys are planning a road trip to Crate & Barrel - you in?”  He responded by telling me he still hates me and that he was going to beat my ass.  I texted him back and asked how?  By beating me with some coordinated throw pillows from Ikea?  He again stated that he hated me.  Which he does not, because seriously, who could?

But really, am I wrong in seeing the humor in that whole dude trip thing?

I guess I should get off my lazy, sickly ass and post about how the 2nd Annual Farewell to Summer Party went.  It was fun.  Dena and I stayed up until 3am the Friday night before, sipping cocktails and making jello-shooters and food for the party.  Our big plan was that if we got it all done Friday night, we could be lazy and float in the pool for most of the day Saturday before the party - which is exactly what we did.  As usual we made tons of food.  We made 10 gallons of Bahama Mama Punch, about 400 jello shooters and got a pony keg - all of which was gone by the end of the night.  You know Todd has been drinking, when he starts raping all his friends in pictures.  Above is Nadine, Dena’s husband Adam and of course the guy dry-humping Adam is Todd.  They are close like that.

The Bahama Mama punch and the jello shooters were big hits again this year.  You can see that we went all out and provided the punch in the oh-so-lovely construction jobsite water cooler.  No seriously, we work in construction, so we just stole the coolers from some jobsites - we had to cut costs somewhere.  If you happen to be in Virginia Beach and passing a jobsite and notice a bunch of construction workers passing out from dehydration, it is probably because they have no coolers on-site to hold water.  I think we all agree that holding Bahama Mama Punch at our Annual Farewell to Summer Parties is far more important than hydration!

As the night went on, everyone got drunker, including Todd, so more of our male friends were completely taken advantage of.  Here he is with Adam again, but is now cheating on Adam with Nadine’s husband Kevin.  By the look on Adam’s face, I do not think that he minded.  Lots of friends, neighbors and family showed up and had a good time.  You can see more pictures from the evening here.  We are now saving our money for the 3rd Annual Farewell to Summer Party - it’s the 3rd Annual that you can get t-shirts made, right?

I finally convinced Dena to leave PictureTrail and join the rest of us at Flickr!!!  Now she is addicted to the Flickr goodness, like sweet sweet puffs from the photo sharing crack pipe!!!  It was not all that long ago that I took the time and uploaded everything to Flickr.  She can be found here, her son Ethan is too darn cute to miss out on!!!
