Downtime With The Divas

I have been having some problems with my Moveable Type.  I cannot get the skinning to work and cannot get the emails to work to let me know when I get comments.  Cherry over at Web Divas thinks that it may have something to do with the install.  So, she is going to back everything up and take me down then uninstall and reinstall my moveable type.

I have no idea how long it will take.  Please try to take tonight to prepare for tomorrow, I would hate for anyone to go through withdrawals.  I will be back as soon as I can.  Who knows, I may get full day’s worth of work done.

Happy International Surfing Day!

Today is International Surfing Day!  How do I know this?  Because I was raised at the beach and everyone I have ever known surfs - and because I am a member of the Surfrider Organization.

Surfrider is a great organization dedicated to keeping our beaches clean, safe and FUN!  In honor of today, I thought I would share the email I received today from our local chapter here in Virginia Beach:

INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY!!

Ever needed a legitimate excuse to go surfing? Well, on Tuesday June 21, 2005, you finally have it: It?s International Surfing Day! This is the unofficial, official surfers’ holiday and gives us a chance to promote and celebrate the sport while bringing awareness to the state of our oceans and beaches.

Why Tuesday June 21st? It?s the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, thus giving you plenty of time to get down to the water.

Surfing Magazine and Billabong have partnered with the Surfrider Foundation and its many chapters to organize surf sessions and beach cleanups nationwide on this day.  Events will be held in Hawaii, California, the gulf coast, and the entire Eastern seaboard. The Virginia Beach Chapter is not planning an event at one specific beach, instead here?s all you gotta do:

Step 1) Go to your nearest beach
Step 2) Thoroughly immerse your toes in the sand and enjoy
Step 3) Catch a wave or three or four (if there are any)
Step 4) As you leave, pick up at least one piece (or three or four) of trash off the beach.

See! Can you think of a better way to spend a Tuesday? Neither can I.

Mahalo, and see ya in the water!

How to Break Your Mother’s Day Gift by Father’s Day

This morning, I went to go clean my floors with my trusty Bissell “Flip-It” Hard Floor Cleaner (my mother’s day gift), just to find out that I had destroyed it!  I decided to run the “dirty tank” and the “dirty tank lid assembly” through the dishwasher to get it clean, because it gets pretty nasty after cleaning the floors.  So it’s been sitting in pieces waiting for my next floor cleaning.

Well, today was the day, and when I went to put it back together, I realized that the plastic was completely warped.  So now it won’t go back together forming the air-tight seal, needed to hold the dirty water.  The cost for the replacement tank? $40.00 - The whole damn thing only cost $99.00.

Thanks for my Mother’s Day gift honey - Sorry I broke it.

P.S. It’s the bottom tank in the above picture!
